December 6. That’s the day Aussies can get their hands on the slimmed-down version of the PlayStation 5.
It feels like only yesterday the original PS5 was released, but in reality, it was over three years ago; it’s about time we got an updated version.

The new-look PS5, while it doesn’t offer any power boost, is 30% smaller in volume. It features an attachable Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive and a 1TB SSD (solid state drive).

The slimmer model now has four detachable plates, two on each side, allowing for the disc drive attachment and future customisation options.
PlayStation has confirmed that coloured plates will be available next year. Designs will include an all-matte black colourway, as well as the recently released Deep Earth Collection (Volcanic Red, Cobalt Blue, and Sterling Silver). Prices are to be announced.

What does the new PlayStation 5 slim cost?
The PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive will retail for $799.95 AUD. While the digital edition will cost $679.95 AUD.
The disc drive is an optional extra, retailing separately for $159.95 AUD.
