Have you ever wondered what it would be like to play a game where Pokémon meets Stardew Valley? Well Ova Magica looks to be doing just that, drawing from the two franchises to make put a unique spin on a cosy game staple.
You’re new to Clover Town, where you’re tasked with taking over a run-down farm… Your classic farming-sim set-up. However, there is a twist, you get to raise adorable blob-creatures to help throughout your adventure. Breed and hatch these squishy, wobbly little guys, raising them to become great companions with unique battling skills and farming abilities.
In Ova Magica you wander around the busy town with your creature by your side while mingling with the townsfolk, who also own precious blobs. You can challenge the villagers to blob battles and even compete in tournaments, to become the number one blob trainer in Clover Town.

You’re not just confined to town either, there are various hidden dungeons, temples and even portals to other dimensions to discover! And, as with other games in the genre, you can develop relationships with the locals and potentially settle down with that one lucky villager!
I’ve been following the development of this game for a while now, its lone developer has created a charming world with bright and captivating artwork. I cannot wait to collect all the adorable blobs and make the cutest team out there!
There is currently a demo out on Steam until June 17th. Following this, Ova Magica will be released into early access in July, so make sure to wishlist it if you are interested.
