Microsoft’s AI-powered Designer app has given users endless opportunities to create infinite uniquely generated images. But it’s one particular prompt that has my attention at the moment.
In a cool fusion of pop-culture and technology, we have been given the power to create uniquely 3D-rendered custom Pop! Vinyl designs. And they look like the real deal.

From outfit details to facial features, users can get as specific as they want, and the AI works its magic to deliver eerily accurate visual representations of their ideas.
This awesome prompt was brought to my attention by fellow QD contributor Rhiannen ‘Doomcutie’ Austin, who shared a vision of themselves in a Gamer Girl-themed Funko-inspired series. Could you IMAGINE a ‘Gamer Girl’ series with iconic women in gaming?
I decided to try it with my own Gamertag and style, and all of a sudden I was hooked. Generating versions of myself as iconic characters, to creating cute renditions of my partner and our pets.

Since my early days of splurging, I have dropped off on my own Funko Pop! Vinyl purchasing.
Why? My concerns about plastic waste have been growing, particularly with Funko reporting that they sent $30-36 million worth of Pop! Vinyls to landfill. My collectible wall has been slowly winding down to pieces that have a higher value to me, rather than my previous impulsive figure buying.

But there’s something deeply charming about being able to customise a Pop Vinyl-inspired figure and make it something uniquely yours. And if users can enjoy the fun of Pop! Vinyl without contributing to the environmental impact associated with manufacturing and shipping plastic figurines, then I think that’s got to be an absolute win. For the users anyway… Sorry, Funko!

With the holiday season around the corner, this AI-powered feature couldn’t have come at a better time. The AI-generated designs can also be used to create digital e-cards, adding a personal touch to your holiday greetings. Or inspiration for a commission from a human artist! I just made a custom Vinyl for a birthday, immortalising an iconic outfit and moment in time, for free, in only a few minutes.

It’s important to note that the generated content is intended for personal use only. A bit of fun. Commercial use of designs that resemble Funko Pop figures could raise legal concerns, especially if it involves selling or profiting from the creations.
If you actually would like to physically create and purchase a physical custom Pop! Vinyl, Funko actually have a website for that — for US residents only. It’s a start, but it’s certainly not on the same level of personalisation.
