Frosty Games Fest is a brand new video game showcase, highlighting games from both Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand. The debut showcase included a whopping 54 locally produced games from our neck of the woods.
The showcase spotlighted everything from chill simulators, to dark and twisted horror titles, puzzle games and more. We’ve highlighted five games that stood out from the pack.

Junklands
3D action-platformer Junklands feels straight out of the 90s, sitting alongside the likes of Banjoo Kazooie and Ratchet and Clank. The adorable paper-crafted hero Rahr sets out through a polluted world to cleanse its corruption with the power of recycling. It’s all kinds of cute and sweet, with third-person combat built around parrying and shield attacks, and there’s even shield surfing to help get around.
Junklands is scheduled for Q4, 2026 on Steam.
Innkeep
Innkeep is a pixel-art management sim where you take the reins of a struggling medieval tavern, tending to the needs of your less-than-courteous patrons.
From the trailer, it seems you’ll be kept busy providing food and drink, but the twist comes in how you step outside of this humdrum life to make sure you thrive. We see the eponymous innkeeper stealing from patrons, dumping bodies and summoning demons in the taproom.

Malys
Malys, a roguelike card game about fighting back against the forces of evil, is the next game from developers Summerfall Studios (Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical). You play as Noah, a former priest turned demon hunter, and must confront and remove demons inhabiting members of your city.
The art is a wonderful blend of pixel art demons and hand-drawn cards that perfectly captures the surreal and otherworldly nature of exorcisms. Check out Malys on Steam, coming later in 2025.
Doggy Don’t Care
In a decidedly more light-hearted and chaotic mould, we find Doggy Don’t Care. Playing as an adorable little pug with more attitude than brain cells, you’ll cause chaos around the house while your owner is out. There’s definitely Untitled Goose Game vibes in this one.
Spread toilet paper around the house, ride the Roomba, and terrorise the chickens in the yard. I often wonder what my dog gets up to when I’m at work, and I hope it isn’t this.

SPiNG
Lastly, for the chill and zen crowd, we have SPiNG — a kind of platformer from SMG Studio, the team that developed Moving Out and Death Squared. In SPiNG, your entire control scheme is limited to one button, which you use to guide and swing a little polyhedral shape around obstacles, dodge lasers and swing to the finish line.
There are over 1000+ handmade levels, as well as challenges, time trials and short-form speed runs. Double points for the emphasis on accessibility in SPiNG‘s design.
