PlayStation gamers have been served up a platter of downloadable delights these past few weeks. And while they may not be as exciting as a main course, these side dishes have my mouth watering nonetheless.
The Last of Us Part II Remastered
First we had the announcement of The Last of Us Part II Remastered, including the all-new single player rougelike mode ‘No Return’. For players who own TLOU2 already, the announcement of a low-cost upgrade path was a real treat.
I can’t wait to push my survival instincts to the limit on January 19th next year.
God of War Ragnarok: Valhalla
Then, to the surprise of just about everybody, we got the announcement of a FREE God of War Ragnarok DLC. And would you believe it, this new expansion will also draw from the rougelike genre.
Kratos will battle his way further and further into Valhalla, where death is not the end, but the start of a new attempt.
Out on December 12th, it’s practically a Christmas miracle!
Final Fantasy XVI: Echoes of the Fallen / The Rising Tide
But perhaps the most exciting announcement for me personally, is that two new story DLCs are coming to Final Fantasy XVI.
The first, Echoes of the Fallen, is already out! It will feature a brand new story set before the final battle in the main game. An investigation into a crystal black market leads Clive and company to an abandoned tower fraught with danger and mystery.
Purchasing the DLC will also unlock Cloud Strife’s iconic Buster Sword for Clive to slice and dice all those monsters with!

Then in Autumn, The Rising Tide will be released. This is easily the more exciting of the two, with lost Eikon Leviathan taking centre stage, who was only hinted at within the main game of FFXVI itself. But even more hype inducing was the appearance of the Tonberry King, an enemy both beloved and feared in Final Fantasy lore.
Earlier in the year, I gave Final Fantasy XVI a 10/10 for it’s roller-coaster ride of emotions, action-packed story, and thrilling boss battles.
Three incredible PlayStation games, set to be expanded upon in new and exciting ways!
We eatin’ good!
